You had to know it was coming: the grin featured on the 2010 Mazda3 and refreshed MX-5 Miata is spreading its way across the Mazda lineup. Today it’s CX-7, Mazda’s uniquely styled midsize crossover.
The most noticeable changes are up front, where a restyled lower fascia is a bit bulkier than what it replaces. Of course, that impression might be inspired in part by the small wheels that might come standard with the real news of the 2010 model-year CX-7: an entry-level naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder powerplant.
Before anyone experiences the less expensive model, though, they’ll probably walk around the vehicle, so let’s do the same. The CX-7′s profile view appears the same while the rear end has been subtly altered. Just above the exhaust pipes, larger red reflecting lights wrap around the side.
Inside, the crossover’s interior has been rearranged to resemble that of the 2010 Mazda3. Now, two display screens peek out from the top of the center console. You might see some Mazda3 in the steering wheel and stereo buttons as well.
