The GTbyCitroen was always intended to be just a concept car and video game star. However, reaction to the concept has been so strong that Citroen is now considering building at least a few working cars.
The GTbyCitroen concept was actually based on a virtual car that will be featured in the new Gran Turismo video game. Despite starting with a fictional car, Citroen’s designers worked to create styling that was as functional as it was radical, lending credence to the virtual car’s performance. According to Besson the concept’s popularity has forced a rethink.
“We are now thinking of a limited run, possibly as many as 20 units,” said Citroen’s product man Vincent Besson.
In the video game, the GTbyCitroen is powered by a fictional electric motor backed by a cutting-edge fuel cell. In real life, the concept had no powertrain and Besson admits that if the car makes it to production, it will likely be powered by a more traditional Ford or GM gasoline V-8 engine. He would not give any other technical details, nor would he say when the car might see the road. The GTbyCitroen debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.

Whoa! That car is totally 200% awesome! I really liked this one. Thanks!
