Muhammad Zamri Baba Grabs Pole Position For Race 1 Production Bike

With a time of 1:18:786 Muhammad Zamri locked the pole position on the starting grid for the Production Bike category of the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) tomorrow morning 25 July 2009. Zamri went out for eight laps before clocking the fastest lap on the third lap out. Zamri earlier did 1:19:488 in the morning practice run on his Yamaha RXZ.
“I did not expect to get pole position as we were having problem with the bike’s top speed on the straight,” explained Zamri.
“We’ll be busy working on it the rest of the day and even through the night if we have to in order to solve the problem.
Hopefully the problem can be solved without anything else cropping up and ruining the race for us.
Even though I got pole position for race 1, it would be nice to be able to open the lead up a bit when we get to the straight from the other competitors.”

The 23-year-old was racing in the Supersport class in round 2 of the MSS but could not continue in that class due to the bike not completed in time for this round.

“I want to race, so when I found out that I don’t have the 600cc bike to ride, I decided to go for this class and try my luck since we already have a bike (RXZ) ready.”
Starting on second is Mohd Rizal Jantan clocking 1:19:385 and close behind in third position is K. Renganathan at 1:19:471. The round 3 of the MSS is currently running on the North Track of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) with only half at 2.765km of the full track length of 5.543km.

Entrance for spectators is free while parking fee is as low as RM5 for cars and RM2 for motorcycles. For more information log on to www.sepangcircuit.com
