The fruits of Fiat’s stake in Chrysler could bloom earlier than expected. There are reports that indicate that the Italian automaker’s fuel-saving Mutliair technology could be adapted to current Chrysler drivetrains.
“It is low-invasive hardware that can be applied to existing engines,” said Lucio Bernard of Fiat Powertrain Technologies, “They are already discussing the use of Multiair for Chrysler.”
As Fiat claimed in March, Multiair provides a more flexible flow of air during the combustion cycle compared to mechanical systems used by other automakers. Fiat says Multiair can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 10%, while providing an increase in power.
