Audi has officially revealed their all new A8 luxury sedan at an event it held in Miami recently and claimed that the new A8 is the sportiest sedan in its class.
The 2011 Audi A8 comes with an aluminum body with Audi Space Frame (ASF) design and full LED headlights that adjusts its beam direction and throw based on the on board navigation system information, a trick handwriting recognition feature, and comes standard with an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox.What the 2011 Audi A8 brings new in terms of safety is the company’s pre sense safety system for avoiding accidents and for minimizing their consequences.
The 2011 Audi A8 will get one 4.2 FSI V8 petrol engine, equipped with direct fuel injection, which develops 273 kW and 445 Nm, however the 258kW 4.2 TDI beats it with its gigantic 800Nm torque output. The company says the new engine for the 2011 Audi A8 offers an enchanced performance level with a 15% reduction in fuel consumption.
In terms of performance, the 4.2 FSI will accelerate the chunky A8 to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds, while the 4.2 TDI achieves than in just 5.5 seconds.
The price for German “A8” tank will be announced at a later date, but the carmaker did say it will go on sale late the following year. The new A8 will be produced in both standard and extended-wheelbase models, and with TDI diesel and hybrid engine variants although the alternative fuel powertrains may be a while away.
