It may be young to the world market, but Kia already has big plans for its new coupe, or Koup. Tom Loveless, Kia’s sales vice president, mentioned that the compact two-door may be powered by a turbocharged powerplant in the near future.
A turbo engine would be the first ever for the brand. Turbocharging, according to Loveless, “is a natural extension if it makes financial sense,” meaning the engine would most likely have to be utilized by a few more of the Korean automaker’s other models. We’re pretty sure many buyers would happily welcome a turbo unit in the Soul or Forte sedan.

Currently the Forte Koup can be has with two engines — a 2.0L or 2.4L inline-four making 156 hp or 173 hp, respectively.
Is a turbocharged engine what Kia needs? Would a turbo engine convince you to buy a Koup?
