’5 by Peugeot’ Concept To Arrive At 2010 Geneva Show

Peugeot’s new concept, billed as the ’5 by Peugeot,’ will be on display at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and is said to be a preview of future Peugeots.

Peugeot is extremely proud of its hybrid technology, which it dubs “HYbrid4.” The system allows the vehicle to be driven by the front, rear, or all four wheels, and also allows for pure electric operation. In the 5, the system uses a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel I-4 that channels its 163 horsepower to the front wheels. A 37-horsepower electric motor is delegated to power the rear wheels. Peugeot says the system allows the large sedan to return an estimated 26.36 liters per km.

Perhaps more interesting is the 5′s styling, the 5 hints at a new design ethic for Peugeot, eschewing the gaping front fascia and large headlamps for a more stylish appearance. Modern LED-tube daytime running lights are wrapped around the headlights and in the side grille openings. Flowing lines continue from the headlights to the taillights, which bear some resemblance to the Jaguar XJ.
