Reports are in that Land Rover will finally be unveiling a production version of its LRX concept this September at the 2010 Paris auto show.
The LRX was first shown as a concept in 2008, but it was only late last year that Land Rover confirmed it would indeed build the LRX as a production vehicle. Although details are still slim, we’ve heard the company plans on offering the model as a Range Rover, allowing it to fit in just beneath the Land Rover Sport.
The word on the street is that Land Rover may use the LRX to launch its new hybrid powertrain, which also appeared in the LRX concept. The system could pair a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 with an electric motor, and reports suggest a plug-in version has also been discussed. This could offer up to 32 km range from electricity alone. Dealers privy to the product information say the LRX will be “the most efficient vehicle” ever offered by the Land Rover.
