The Asean edition of the Ford Fiesta will be on display at 1 Utama High Street from today, 7th of April 2010 until the 11th of April 2010. This is the second time the Fiesta has been on display in Malaysia , the first being its maiden showcase at Sunway Pyramid early in the year.
Two Duratec petrol engines will be available for Malaysian spec models which is the 1.6 litre and 1.4 litre variants. The bigger engine is the latest 120 hp Duratec engine with twin variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) and is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch Powershift transmission. The smaller engine, with an output of 96 hp, will have a 5-speed manual transmission which should please those who like to do their own shifting.
With the 6-speed Powershift twin clutch transmission, the Fiesta already has an edge over the Mazda 2 which makes do with a regular automatic transmission. The Fiesta’s engines are also larger and more powerful than the Mazda 2’s
ABS, ESP and dual front airbags will come standard in the top of the line 1.6 variant of the Fiesta. It is yet to been seen if the 1.4 variant gets this feature as well. Most B-segment cars don’t even have ESP stability control as an option, and the Fiesta’s already looks like its gonna be taking the fight to the japanese fleet of budget cars mainly the Vios,City, Mazda 2 and to an extent the Forte. With prices ranging from around the RM 75,000 – RM 85,000 range, it can be expected to also take a slice of the sales of the Proton Persona.
Like the Mondeo, the Fiesta will have a refueling point which does not require unscrewing of a cap. It’s quite a convenient feature and has been thoroughly tested to ensure it is safe for everyday use.
If you’re curious to know more and want to see the cars up close and in detail, hurry along to Highstreet at 1Utama’s New Wing and knock yourself OUT!
