Nissan Leaf (2011)

Nissan North America has released information that since they have begun taking orders since Late Tuesday, they have been receiving a consistent rate of people placing orders for their upcoming petrol-free Nissan Leaf.

More than 6,600 customers have placed an order for their new vehicle within a span of 65 hours.

According to Katherine Zacharay, who handles PR for Nissan North America, during the first three hours, there were 2,700 people registered for the Leaf and has been relatively steady ever since.

However, Nissan is still determining as to where they will roll out the new Leaf, based on the levels of demand within the United States.

The Leaf comes in 2 trims, the Basic SL provides an advanced navigation system, Internet/Smartphone connectivity for pre-heat/pre-cooling and charging control, Bluetooth and push-button start as Standard.

However, in the SV version, Nissan adds on automatic headlights, a rear-view monitor and a solar panel spoiler, which helps to trickle charge an accessory battery instead of the main battery.

Its actually a pretty cool looking car. It looks a heck of a lot better than the Prius and this one is actually 100% petrol free. Cool!!

chameleontom: I totally agree on the looks. I wonder how is the government gonna price this car when it comes here? Do we still need to pay road taxes and if so, how are they gonna calculate it?

Wonder if they are gonna give some import duty exemptions? The other thing that worries me is how long will the battery last before its time to replace it and how much. The last I check the Prius battery will only last around 5 years and after that it cost around RM18k to replace.
