MINI Unleashes Countryman Prototype Photos And Model Details

This new Mini is coming out packing with major information and BMW has just placed a pile of photos along with detailed pictures and as well as information on the types of engines that will be available in Europe, such as five engine options (including two diesels).

Trim will be available in the guise of the Mini One, One D, Cooper D and Cooper S variants and they will also have the latest MINI 1.6L 4-cylinder engines equipped with BMW’s Valvetronic full variable valve control.

The new Cooper S engine will be able to unleash about 181bhp and will also have the same direct injection system previously used in the John Cooper Works models. Unfortunately, there isn’t a whiff of news about a JCW Countryman offering.

6-speed automatic of manual transmissions will be offered as well as an all-wheel-drive option, dubbed ALL4, it uses an electromagnetically controlled center differential to distribute up to 100% of the drive torque to whichever axle has more grip.

The Countryman will also be the first of the Mini line-up to be able to properly fit four passengers as well as an option for a rear bench that would be able to fit 3 passengers!
