For all the racing fans, automotive aficionados and classic car freaks will surely know of the story of Ford’s GT40 and the fame it entailed. Who would have ever thought that this amazing piece of machinery was able to topple the prancing horse’s 6-times winning streak at Le Mans, four times in a row?
Henry Ford II initiate proceedings to take over the Maranello sportscar-maker and racing team in the early 1960s, but unfortunately, Enzo Ferrari wasn’t too happy with what henry had to offer and decided to call off the deal at the very last minute. Having felt insulted, henry vowed vengeance and commissioned to have a Ferrari-Race-Car-Killer built. The Ford boys came out with the GT40.
Although the Ferrari in the video below looks like a GTO, it isn’t. It does look like a 250 GTO, but its actually a 365 GTB/4 Daytona and the Ford in isn’t the GT40 back then but rather the modern tribute of it; the 2005 Ford GT.
