Mercedes-Benz has begun sharing some revelations about their upcoming 2011 Mercede-Benz CL-Class coupe with photos taken from last weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
For starters, the CL550 4MATIC now comes with an all-new twin turbo 4.7L V8 engine that’s been boosted to 429bhp and a husky 700Nm of torque. What’s unique with this engine is the fact that they have reduced the eight-pot displacement by almost 1L and yet it’s still able to increase output by 47bhp and 170Nm as compared to the previous model.
This means that the CL550 4MATIC may be able to reach 100kmh in just 4.9s, though still not as good as the jumbo CL600′s 4.5s to 100kmh. If you’re wondering how the titanic CL600′s 2,223kg coupe was able to attain such performance figures, look nowhere else but under the hood and you’ll find the answer; 5.5L V12 engine that has a mind-boggling 510bhp and 830Nm of torque!
