Chevrolet Cruze Global Sales Pass 270,000 Ahead of Introduction in the United States

The Chevrolet Cruze is one of the fastest-growing vehicle nameplates in the world, with sales rising an average of 18 percent per month. On a global basis, customers have purchased 140,000 Cruzes in the first six months of 2010 and a total of 270,000 since the vehicle’s launch in Europe last year.

In Malaysia, some 150 units of the Chevrolet Cruze were snapped up with-in a month of launch by the Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Hj Abdul Razak on 10th June 2010, following rave reviews by all leading motoring journalists in the country and recognition of the Cruze being as compelling a choice in the C-segment as all other established players. Now, the Chevrolet team is gearing up for the Cruze’s market introduction in the United States in September.

“Cruze and Chevrolet customers are assured of excellent after-sales service, under NAZA’s established network and infrastructure. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals engaged to care and nurture needs of present and future customers of Chevrolet,” said Dato’ SM Faisal, Joint-Group Executive Chairman of NAZA Group of Companies

“Customers around the world have already made the Cruze an international success,” said Chevrolet Country Director Sanjeev Garg. “In Malaysia, customers are selecting the Cruze for its distinct exterior and interior styling, advanced safety features, 6-speed shift-tronic transmission and the superior fuel economy,” he added.

The Cruze is currently available in more than 60 countries. The top five markets are China, Russia, Mexico, India and Spain. Including Holden and GM Daewoo versions sold in Australia and South Korea, total sales exceed 340,000 vehicles across five continents.

The Cruze will begin arriving at U.S. dealerships in September. Production will be carried out at GM’s assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. The car will be the only compact car built in the U.S. for the 2011 model year.
