Ferrari 458 Challenge Laps Fiorano in…???

More and more video clips are appearing of the much anticipated Ferrari 458 Italia and the few variants that will succeed it and we can’t wait for the 458 Challenge to appear!

As much as always, though a camera that’s been trained on person can add another 5kg to a person’s figure, a video of a moving object at speed would seem 30kmh slower, but after watching the Challenge get down to business around the Fiorano track, it looks stupendously fast around it.

This 4.5L-gulper of a V8 outputs 570bhp, but for those who do not know already, the Challenge has gone through a considerable amount of weight-savings to improve its power-to-weight ratio even more so than the standard 458 Italia. The Challenge also has the same brakes from the 599XX that could pop your eyes out of their sockets.

Watching how the Challenge navigates its way around the track, pitch and roll is not very apparent for a road going car that’s been somewhat stripped out and the dual clutch system sounds to be very much direct and instantaneous and the engine blips itself on the down-shifts. Extremely EVOCATIVE!

So how good is it really? Well considering the 790bhp Ferrari FXX, driven by Andrea Bertolini, lapped Fiorano in 1min 16.2s, the Challenge amazingly made it in 1min 16.5s, just 3-tenths shy of Ferrari’s FXX Supercar.

Want one? I SURE DO!
