Mercedes-Benz 2011 S63 AMG Has Twin-Turbo 5.5L V8

Its the age of turbo’s back again from the 80′s and all the manufacturers are following suit to down-size their engines, production costs and emissions with the advent of global warming issues becoming greatly apparent for us all on this earth.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG has adopted a new twin-turbo 5.5L direct-injection V8 that’s 53bhp more at 571bhp and has 900Nm of twist between 2,250 and 3,750rpm propelling this gargantuan of a car to 100kmh in just 4.5s in the standard package or 4.4s in the AMG sports package.

Transmission also gets a change for the S63, swapping out its torque converter automatic transmission for the multi-clutch unit from the SL63 for a more sportier feel.

The S63′s combined fuel economy numbers have improved from 14.43L per 100km to 10.5L per 100km in the EU test cycle.
