With the recent occurrences of engine bay fires, Ferrari has officially issued a recall of the 458 Italia.
According to Ferrari, an adhesive used to attach a heat shield under the rear fender is able to ignite when exposed to high temperatures, leading to a larger fire in the engine bay.
So far, there have been about a dozen cases of damaged / written-off Ferrari’s due to driver error. However, out of this, so far 4 cases cases have emerged from the internet showcasing 458′s engulfed in flames.
Consequently, Ferrari has already designed a new heat shield that attaches via rivets instead of the adhesive previously used.
