Lancer-Based 2010 WAJA Sneak Preview By TV3!

For you readers out there, where the rumours have been spreading like wild-fire about the impending debut of the new Waja, your wish has come true.

The upcoming Waja / Impian will be headed to showrooms nationwide in Malaysia from what looks to be the last quarter of 2010 with unconfirmed plans to introduce a turbo version of the Campro engine.

The utilization of Mitsubishi’s Lancer platform indicates the strengthening partnership between Mitsubishi and Proton. Dubbed the “P390A” the main design of the car is still retained, however it will not be as refined as Mitsubishi’s current Lancers that roam our Malaysian street, but we must say, it looks quite close to the original even after some “Proton-isation”

What has happened to Proton’s R&D department where they were supposed to have been designing their own cars and developing their own engines in house? However, the reverse engineering intelligence garnered from this should help shift Proton’s technical know-how to a newer level. That is IF they’ll be using the 4B11 engine found in current Lancers or just perhaps they’ll be dropping in the 1.6L CPS engine.

So by introducing the Lancer’s platform into Proton’s mix, by right it should help to provide some insight into building a stronger chassis for both handling and safety purposes.

In any case, we can’t wait till it starts showing up at Proton dealerships.

it’s not wrong to rebadge lancer because proton does this to tackle the niche market. their next offering will be the new persona which fully design by proton albeit styling by 3rd party
