The car, which banks on the success and popularity of the Passat CC, has all the makings of the original car plus the injection of bursting power and torque, sporty ride and handling characteristics and exclusivity of products from the Volkswagen R portfolio.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia Managing Director Mr Ricky Tay said the Passat CC R-Line is aimed at the discerning executive market in Malaysia.

“The Passat CC R-Line is an extension to the successful Passat CC which Malaysians have become fond of. This new car offers them a choice of having a more powerful machine, added with the technological know-how of Volkswagen’s R GmbH,” he added.

Very few touches transform this already sporty car into something else entirely. The sleek, contoured lines of the R-Line will surely keep heads turning.

The car is further epitomised by the 18″ ‘Mallory’ wheels, panoramic tilting glass roof and the R badge on the front fenders and rear of the car.

Slight touches to the body give the car a low and sportier stance, thereby further accentuating the already attractive the silhouette of the Passat CC.

Additionally, the car comes with the bi-xenon headlamps, electronically-controlled side mirrors and bending lights.

The Passat CC R-Line comes equipped with a 3.6L V6 power plant that produces 300PS and a maximum torque of 350Nm.

This qualifies the Passat CC’s entry into the performance market, being able to reach 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds and hitting a top speed of 250 km/h. This motor is mated to a 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) that distributes the power and torque to the wheels via a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.

This is further enhanced by the Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) for a more performance oriented and composed ride and handling characteristic.

And like all other Volkswagen cars wearing the R badge, the CC R-Line has also been built to be both fuel efficient and lower emissions. On a combined cycle, the car consumes 9.3 litres/100km, emitting 215g/km.

Inside, the Passat CC R-Line does not disappoint. The R-Line treatment is further enhanced with the aluminium front scuff plates with the R logo, sports seats finished in ‘Nappa’ leather, a flat-bottomed multi-function, leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, brushed aluminium decorative inserts and the auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror.

There is no compromise on comfort too as the car is equipped with the ‘Climatronic’ air-conditioning system with dual-zone temperature control, DYNAUDIO 600-Watt ‘Confidence’ premium sound system complemented by 10 speakers, KESSY keyless entry and starting system, electronic parking brake with hill hold and auto hold functions, Park Distance Control with ‘Rear Assist’ reverse camera and the RNS510 touch screen radio with integrated satellite navigation system.

Despite the dynamic DNA, the CC R-Line’s safety features are still of paramount importance.

The car is equipped with airbags for the driver and front passenger, and curtain and side airbags for rear seat occupants, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), ABS and EBD, and the TCS traction control system.

The CC R-Line also has the ISOFIX anchorage point fixtures for two child seats in the rear.

The Passat CC R-Line comes in a choice of 9 colours; Urano Grey, Candy White, Night Blue, Reflex Silver, Light Brown, Iron Grey, Deep Black, Mocca Anthracite and Icelandic Grey.

The car, which is priced at RM373,888, is now available for bookings at all Volkswagen authorised dealerships nationwide.
