Kawasaki Motors Malaysia launched two new bikes, their Ninja 250 and Z800, for the Malaysian market in a grand evening event for their Premium Dealers’ Annual Gala Dinner 2012 and Awards Presentation held last Friday night at Sunway Hotel Resort And Spa.
The dinner event, honoured by the presence of Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI) Deputy Minister YB Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd Japan President of Motorcycle & Engine Company Hiroshi Takata, was to reward their premium dealers and stokists for their outstanding sales achievements.
“Malaysia is a small market for motorcycle with total industry volume in 2011 of 540,000 units. With current market sentiments, year 2012 volume is expected to reach 600,000 units, an estimate increase of about 10%.” said Dato’ Mukhriz during his opening speech.
“In emerging countries, where leisure and premium bike market is expected to grow further, our target is to create more fun Kawasaki by offering a ‘Fun To Ride’ , high quality and function with reasonable pricing to make Kawasaki as the brand of choice amongst bike users” said Hiroshi.
“Today, we will release another two premium models, the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and the all-new Kawasaki Z800.” he added.
The Ninja 250 has earned high reputation around the world and this latest version is full of Ninja characters that is more attractive than previous model. It portrays a sporty outlook with new dual headlights and sharp minimalists tail cowl.
It also has a flared design fuel tank, short-style silencer and new 10-spoke design with larger rear wheel to enhance the big bike look. A larger windscreen and single-seat cover are optional.
It’s powered by a new 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 249 cc Parallel Twin engine producing 31.5 hp at 11,000 rpm and 21 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. The price for this Kawasaki Ninja 250 is RM22, 589.
The Z800, on the other hand, is totally a new model from the Z750 and is designed with aggressive styling that said to be the latest attraction in the Kawasaki street bike line-up. The design details begin with a low-mount Z-series front cowl that slopes back in a manner that highlights a sleek and stylish silhouette.
It also has a sculptured Z-type fuel tank, stainless steel capped traingular rounded short exhaust finished in matt black, easy-to-read, fully digital instrument cluster and a stylish iconic Z taillight.
The Z800 has a 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 806 cc in-line four, DOHC, 16 valve engine that outputs 111 hp at 10,200 rpm and 83 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. It’s priced at RM47,989.
