Jay Leno is widely known as a car and motorcycle aficionado. He has a large antique car and motorcycle collection of various international marques spanning from the early 1900s to modern vehicles. Many gearheads lust for a collection even half as impressive as Jay’s, and in recognition of his years of an automotive fanatic (Concorso Italiano, an annual Italian car event during the Monterey Car Weekend), has announced he will be inducted into its Hall of Fame this year. The Monterey Car Weekend takes place every August.
“Jay is the international face of the ultimate car guy and has been an enthusiastic ambassador for the hobby for more than 30 years. With his own large collection ranging from Lamborghinis and jet powered motorcycles to Duesenbergs and a tank-engined 30-foot hot rod, Jay’s eclectic taste knows no boundaries, other than making sure it has four wheels and a great history,” said Concorso owner Tom McDowell. “He’s a hands-on, passionate guy who’s not afraid to get a little dirt under his fingernails and he has everything we look for in an honoree. He’s the car guy’s car guy.”
Since the founding of the Concorso Italiano in 1992, more than 50 people highly influential in the world of automobiles have been inducted into the Hall of Fame including Sterling Moss, Phil Hill, Carroll Shelby, Giorgetto Giugiaro and more. Leno will join their ranks in the Hall of Fame at this year’s ceremony at the 24th Annual Concorso Italiano at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey, Calif., on August 14.
