gran-turismo-mobile-kazunori-yamauchiWhen “Gran Turismo” for the PSP hits shelves October 1st, 638-hp of Detroit muscle will be its focus. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, aka “The Poor Mans Ferrari”, will be seen on its cover. The decision was made by creator Kazunori Yamauchi to show his support for the U.S. auto industry.

A true enthusiast, among Yamauchi’s responsibilities is deciding on cover art. The ZR1 is the second American car to appear on a Gran Turismo cover; the first being Yamauchi’s favorite, the Ford GT.

The upcoming “Gran Turismo” is the first mobile addition to the iconic series, featuring more than 800 cars, 30 racetracks, and a 60 fps frame rate. The PSP’s wireless networking function allows four gamers to race against each other, and trade and share unlocked cars.
