Quality improvement in product & services coupled with attractive sales
packages become main factors to increase of PROTON’s brand acceptance

Yesterday four lucky monthly winners of the PROTON
Drive for Cash contest today not only won themselves big cash for buying
a Proton car but were also treated to a circuit test drive and
demonstration on the Saga, Persona and Lotus Elise as well as a
defensive driving demonstration by PROTON testing instructors.

The contest, organized by PROTON Holdings Berhad’s main distribution
arm, Proton Edar Sdn Bhd, was in conjunction of the PROTON Drive for
Cash Campaign. The contest, which ran from June to August 2009, received
overwhelming response from customers with cash prizes worth RM500,000 to
be won weekly and monthly.

In general, winners were selected based on the creativeness of their
slogans. The monthly winners were shortlisted from a pool of best weekly
submissions whereas the one Grand Prize Winner was shortlisted among the
best from the pool of best monthly submissions. The monthly winners, who
each won RM20,000 for their winning slogans, were Tan Kay Pau, 20, from
Batu Pahat (June); Loh Kam Fook, 47, from Kuantan (July) and Lim Tzaw
Feng, 23 from Johor Bahru (August). The Grand Prize Winner, Anisah binti
Alias, 23, from Kota Bharu who bought a Persona 1.6L, won herself
RM50,000 for her winning slogan “Inspired by strong nationalism, fired
by bold imagination, conceived with great passion, they are born to lead
the nation.”

Present at the prize-giving ceremony was Proton Edar Chief Executive
Officer, Mohamad Shukor bin Ibrahim. He said that the contest had
received an overwhelming response of 7,810 entries. “The campaign was
successful in meeting its objectives as our registration numbers for
June and July had impressively increased to 14,065 units and 15,809
units respectively, placing us on the number 1 position in Malaysian car
sales for the said months. Apart from the cash prizes, the attractive
offers put forward by the campaign was also a hit with our customers,”
said Mohamad Shukor.

“Confidence and acceptance in the market towards our brand has
increased, and this is eminent in the increase of our sales numbers.
Even after the festive season, the bookings are still coming in strong.
We believe that car buyers have now started to notice on how we have
improved in our product and service quality, which is evident in our hot
selling models, the Persona, Saga and Exora. The achievement of topping
the country’s sales chart in June and July is an achievement that we
strive to repeat in future months,” said Mohamad Shukor.
