The Alza, a new generation of versatile multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), built with contemporary styling and yet affordable, is now available at all Perodua showroom nationwide.
ALZA, which means “to rise” in Spanish reflects the vehicle’s purpose in meeting the high standards of Malaysian car buyers. With the tagline “Versatile as you”, the ALZA is a car one moment and MPV the next. It is the perfect combination of style and comfort.
The ALZA was launched by Deputy Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre yesterday. Also present was Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd President Mr Teruyuki Minoura.
Available in 6 variants, the ALZA comes in 2 standard variants (AT/MT), 2 premium variants (AT/MT) and 2 advanced versions (AT/MT). The advanced versions will only be delivered from March 2010 onwards.
Perodua targets to sell between 3,500 and 4,000 units of this MPV monthly at a price range between RM56,000 and RM64,000 per unit, while the advanced versions will cost between RM67,000 and RM70,000 a unit.
With the introduction of the ALZA, Perodua aims to maintain its pole position in 2010 in terms of sales with a target of 176,000 units- which will be highest ever for Perodua.
The ALZA comes in 6 attractive colours including a new colour- Classy Purple. The other colours available are Ebony Black, Ivory White, Pearl White, Medallion Grey and Glittering Silver.
“We believe that the ALZA will fullfill our customers’ lifestyle and will be the vehicle of choice for those looking to upgrade to a bigger car,” Perodua chairman Tan Sri Datuk Asmat Kamaludin said.
The ALZA is ideal for young families wanting to drive to shopping malls or for recreational activities or for balik kampong trips. The ALZA is also perfect for urban singles looking for a stylish and practical vehicle.
Asmat said, “The ALZA has the highest localisation rate so far- with nearly a 90% local content from day one; the ALZA is an achievement for both Perodua and its vendors.”
“The ALZA represents the maturity of Malaysian automotive vendors in producing high end parts. Overall we have 100 vendors on the ALZA project, of which 94 are local companies,” he said.
Perodua, which also manufactures engine parts for its own models, also supplies engine companents to overseas markets such as Japan, Indonesia and Pakistan.
