Smart has announced a partnership with Nissan to build a new vehicle meant for the U.S.

Details about this little car isn’t quite out just yet, but the sketches have been circulating to give us all an idea as to what it will look like.

However, the only details available are that it will be a 5-door hatch, petrol-based power plant and will be made available some time in 2011.

There’s speculation that this may be based on Nissan’s Micra, but will definitely maintain the unique design that’s readily identifiable as a Smart vehicle.

Currently, both sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and hopefully this should help bring Smart out of the slump that they’ve been facing over the last year.
