Although Mercedes-Benz hasn’t unveiled it’s new SLS AMG Roadster just yet, the automaker still managed to allow a tickle of some spy shots of this minimally disguised prototype.
This convertible is the second car developed independently by AMG. Both the coupe and roadster were created in parallel, but during their three years of development for the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster, the engineers had dedicated particular attention to bodyshell rigidity, driving dynamics, it’s soft-top and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) while the rest of the SLS AMG hatchback remains the same as the roadster.
This obviously means that the SLS Roadster is quite similar to it’s gullwing sibling, though the proportions speak for themselves with the long hood, large wheels and a short rear that’s been unified by a breathtaking design. Nearly anyone with an understanding of the modern automotive industry could recognize this silver sports car as the other version of the SLS AMG cars.
The 2012 SLS AMG Roadster is currently undergoing it’s test phase at Stuttgart, to verify the maturity of the car and this coupe has been slated to be unveiled at the International Automobile Show in Frankfurt in September 2011, not so long before convertible car enthusiasts can jump for joy!
