Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler  has  just purchased the first-ever 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder, reportedly the world’s most powerful convertible. And now may never be late for a taping of American Idol ever again too!

Hennessey Performance Engineering has made six units of the Venom GT, a Lotus Elise-based supercar that boasts a twin-turbo 7.0-liter V-8 engine. While the original Elise made roughly 190 horsepower, the Venom GT makes about 1,200 hp.

John Hennessey,  HPE’s mastermind, said that he was approached last year by Tyler, who wanted to order one, but with a catch: he wanted his Venom GT to be a roadster. Hennessey engineers fashioned a removable top and made some changes to the rollcage, but found that it decreased the car’s power-to-weight ratio. To make sure that the Spyder is just as quick as the coupe, Hennessey upped the engine’s power a tad: the GT Spyder now makes 1,244 horsepower and weighs 2,743 pounds, just 58 pounds overweight compared to the regular GT. Tyler’s Venom GT Spyder can sprint to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds!

Tyler’s Hennessey Venom GT Spyder cost an estimated USD $1.1 million, so if you think he’ll give you a ride in it…dream on.
