Benelli Keeway Motorcycles Sdn Bhd, with its partner, QianJiang Group of China (QJ), has launched two of the latest brands in the local motorcycle scene namely the Keeway and Benelli.

QianJiang Group of China was established in the 1980’s. It is one of the largest motorcycle producing and selling company in China, whose workforce produces more than 1,000,000 powered two-wheelers each year, as well as in excess of two millions engines, in an ultra modern city-sized factory equipped with sophisticated machine tools imported from Germany, Italy and U.S. Currently, QianJiang Group generates more than an approximately USD 1 billion in revenue. The Group is listed in 1999 on China’s Shenzhen Stock exchange.

Keeway is a European brand that was established 13 years ago and is registered in the European Union. Keeway’s worldwide reach includes over 100 countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Central and South East Asia. Keeway manufactures motorcycles and scooters from 50cc to 600cc. Keeway also manufactures a range of All-Terrain-Vehicles and electric vehicles. All Keeway products are manufactured in its manufacturing facilities in Wenling, China.

Benelli is one of Italy’s oldest motorcycle manufacturers and was established in 1911 in Pesaro, Italy. Benelli was acquired by QianJiang Group in 2005 and, the company is now known as Benelli Q.J. Benelli Q.J. maintains its main R & D base in Pesaro and supports the design and development of both the Keeway and Benelli brands. In Italy, Benelli continues to focus on developing and manufacturing its unique brand of motorcycles. QJ is proud that the acquisition of Benelli has given the Group access to the latest technologies in the design and development of innovative motorcycles in its quest to be a global manufacturer.

Benelli Keeway Motorcycles Sdn Bhd (BKM) was established in November 2010. BKM has been awarded the licence to assemble motorcycles and all terrain vehicles in Malaysia with engine capacity 200cc and above.

Currently, BKM has its own facility in Bukit Beruntung, covering a land area of 109,644 square feet. In its first phase of development, BKM has already constructed its assembly plant with a build-up of 28,000 square feet. The company has been given the exclusive rights to manufacture and assemble models of motorcycles from Keeway and Benelli suited to the Malaysian market and ASEAN markets.

BKM is optimistic that once the Keeway and Benelli brands and their models are successfully positioned in Malaysia, it will be ready for export and work towards making Malaysia QJ’s regional base. QJ is committed to the Malaysian market and will be providing all necessary to BKM to ensure the successful positioning of Keeway and Benelli brand in Malaysia. QianJiang Group is confident with BKM for their experiences in the motorcycle industry in Malaysia.

According to its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. On Hai Swee, BKM is planning to launch 9 models of motorcycles this year.

“We are also planning to open our flagship concept store in Kuala Lumpur sometime this September. The showroom cum service centre will carry our strong branding and visual identity, to provide the best attention and support to our valued dealers and customers. This will help the market to appreciate our brands better,” he said.

For the debut ceremony, BKM has unveiled five models, Benelli TRe1130K, Benelli TnT899, Keeway Dorado 250, Keeway TX200G and Keeway RKV200G.

All BKM products will be available from motorcycle dealers throughout the nation.
