Acura NSX Concept 01

Acura has unveiled the concept of one of the most coveted sports car of all time, the NSX. Teased since last year, Acura is now giving a signal that the production is near by showing a more thorough look of the car at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

While maintaining the natural low and wide stance of an NSX, the concept’s exterior design boasts a combination of clean, modern and simple surfacing with sharp and edgy details such as the head and tail lights. Surely the end product would not carry the look 100 percent, but Acura is stressing that the concept shows where the real outcome is heading to.

Based on a “Human Support Cockpit” which emphasizes “the synergy between man and machine”, the interior features what Acura calls as an exotic driving position. They even highlight an intuitive “Simple Sports Interface” which minimizes the clutter of the interior thus allowing the driver to focus on the driving experience.

This hybrid NSX will be powered by a mid-mounted, direct-injection V6 powerplant. Another source of power would come from  Acura’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. The system comprises of three high-performance electric motors. One is integrated to the engine and the rest drive the front wheels. Transmission comes with a dual-clutch system.

The new NSX is currently being developed by a global R&D team at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. in Los Angeles and Ohio and will be manufactured at a new production plant also located in Ohio.
