Kia Optima Hybrid Superman 01

One of the world’s most iconic superhero, Superman has arrived at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. No, not that dude in the famous red brief but its the Kia Optima Hybrid. As absurd as it sounds, the blue metallic and red chrome Optima Hybrid is a corollary of Kia’s partnership with DC Entertainment and Super Street magazine for the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign,  a relief effort to bring help and hope to people affected by drought and famine in the Horn of Africa.

The Superman-inspired Optima Hybrid is the seventh out of eight vehicles to be produced from the 10-month partnership. The eight vehicle has not been released yet but Kia said that it will be an amalgamation of all seven super heroes that make up the Justice League. They are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.

The Superman Optima Hybrid has been given a bolder and muscular stance with its widened custom fenders and an adjustable suspension system that can lower or raise the car via a button. This symbolizes Superman’s strength and integrity. The metallic blue exterior finish is spruced up with the iconic ‘S’ shield on the hood and trunk while red chrome enhancements can be seen on the trunk and front bumper. The heroic look is completed by the 22-inch red wheels.

Meanwhile, the door panels, seats and dashboard receive blue upholstery made from custom materials. Again, the ‘S’ shields make their appearance on the seats and steering wheel. On top of that, there are two video screens on the front-seat headrests that play “We Can Be Heroes” video, a video the demonstrates how one small act can make anyone a hero.
