The All-New Seventh Generation 2013 Golf is finally here! Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has officially launched the 1.4 TSI variant at D’Nest Aviation hangar at the Subang Airport today. The new Golf Mk7 is said to be the best Golf ever created – it is bigger yet lighter and more powerful compared to the already excellent Golf Mk6.

Eventhough the new Golf Mk7 is 55 mm longer and 12.7 mm wider than the Golf Mk6, it is 100kg lighter. Volkswagen made it possible by improving all aspect of the car’s construction – from the electrical aspect to the engine and body structure, of which is said to be constructed from ultra-high strength steel. Even the air-conditioning unit is 2.7 kg lighter.

Styling-wise, the new Golf Mk7 is sharper. All features have been given subtle touch including the head and tail lamps as well as front and rear bumpers. The cabin, on the other hand, is more spacious with 15.2mm more rear kneeroom and 30mm more shoulder room at both front and back. Infotainment system can be accessed via the generous 5-inch touchscreen.

The twin-charged 1.4-litre TSI musters 140 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The hot hatch now goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the Mk6. And with the BlueMotion technology included, the new Golf Mk7 is able to achieve a better fuel consumption at 4.8 litres per 100km.

The pricing has not yet been released but Volkswagen Group Malaysia confirmed that it will be announced tomorrow. The new Golf Mk7 1.4 TSI will be available for viewing and booking at all Volkswagen dealerships starting on the 16th of March 2013.
