“The new V12 Vantage S is, simply, pure Aston Martin. It is extreme in its nature yet truly timeless in its design language. Learning from our successes on the track feeds the development of this type of car and I’m proud to launch such an exciting sports car in this, our centenary year.” said Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Dr Ulrich Bez.

This new Aston claims to be able to reach a mind blowing top speed of 330 km/h thanks to a new AM28 engine said to produce 50 hp and 50 Nm of torque more than the outgoing model, which only had a top speed of 305 km/h. The new V12 gets some extra muscle from its race-derived motorsports proven technology. It not only features the latest generation Bosch engine management system but also a CNC machined combustion chambers and hollow cam shafts. It boasts a whopping 565 hp and 620 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm.

An uprated version of its 7-speed Sportshift III AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox, found in the current V8 Vantage S, is also making its debut on this new V12. The hydraulically actuated system provides motorsport-style paddle shift changes for optimum performance delivery and efficiency. It is said to have been designed and engineered to exploit the full sporting potential of the V12 engine. The unit is also 55 kg lighter than the outgoing six-speed manual gearbox. Unfortunately, 0 to 100 km/h acceleration times have not been confirmed yet.

Also new for the Vantage range is the three-stage Adaptive Damping System. A choice of ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ modes can be chosen and it also governs the two-mode ZF Servotronic power assisted steering system. Another ‘Sport’ mode function, controlled via a button on the centre console, alters throttle response, gearshift speed and timing.

To reflect its position as the new flagship, the front grille is now in carbon fibre with sporty black carbon fibre or titanium silver mesh, inspired by the CC100 Speedster Concept, to maximize airflow into the engine. There’s also a set of new lightweight forged alloy ten-spoke wheels, black painted roof and part-painted boot panel with pronounced bonnet vents and flared wheel arches to enhance its muscular stance.

It is elegant, yet brutal, and it is at the same time easy to control. It has everything that sums up Aston Martin: power, beauty and soul!” said Dr. Bez.
