Proton has unveiled its most affordable product to date, the Proton Saga SV. Here, the SV moniker stands for ‘Super Value’, aptly chosen for its base price of RM33,438. The car was launched at Proton Edar Platinum Showroom in Mutiara Damansara on Saturday morning.

Built based on the Saga FLX, the new Saga SV does not bear visual updates except for the SV badging on the trunk. In fact, the new Saga SV features heap of improvements in the safety department. The car now has two airbags, pre-tensioner seatbelts, child restrain anchorage and a car immobiliser.

Other than that, the Saga SV comes with 13-inch wheels, 1-DIN radio with CD player, manual side mirror control and indicators integrated with side mirrors.

Powering the SV is the same 1.3-litre Campro IAFM unit as found in the FLX. Transmission comes in the choices of manual and CVT ‘box.

Chief Executive Officer of PROTON Edar, Hisham Othman said, “The Saga SV is a manifestation of PROTON’s commitment to provide Malaysians with exceptional better value for money attributes that include enhanced safety features, better quality, practicality, style and affordability in ownership.”

For the manual version, the price starts from RM33,438 for solid body colour and RM33,888 for the metallic shade. As for the CVT, it retails from RM36,438 for solid body colour and RM36,888 for the metallic. Buyers get a three-year or 100,000km manufacturing warranty, whichever comes first.

The new Saga SV is available in six colours – Solid White, Elegant Brown, Tranquility Black, Genetic Silver, Fire Red and the new Blue Rock and is now officially open for booking at any Proton dealership nationwide.
