Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), last weekend, gave members of the media a exclusive sneak peek of a special new vehicle in which it gets to claim as the first Hybrid MPV in Malaysia – The 2013 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid MPV. This sneak peek is a precursor to the launch that is scheduled sometime in the third quarter of this year.
“It gives us great pleasure to provide the media with first-hand preview of the all-new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid that will be launched in the third quarter of this year. We hope that they will also enjoy the experience of seeing the “Making of the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Family” video production.” said ETCM Marketing And Product Planning Director Tan Keng Meng.
This CBU unit seen here is said to be fresh from the shipyard for the shooting of its advertisement where the preview was held at. The commercial is themed “Meet the Hybrids – New Age Family, New Age MPV”, where each of the five family members personifies a certain feature of the vehicle. Creative Juice and TBWA are the two advertising agencies behind this creative concept to increase awareness of Malaysia’s first Hybrid MPV.
ETCM mentioned that this unit presented here, is fully equipped with all the optional accessories. Its front fascia wears a chrome grille and has a slightly different front bumper with larger central air vent flanked by a set of smart looking foglight bezels. Apart from the side skirts and rear lips, it looks like a regular 2011 Nissan Serena MPV.
It does, however, have a keyless entry, Intelligent Key (i-key) system, Automated Sliding Doors featuring One-Touch Auto Closure with Anti-Pinch and Multi Graphic Upper Meter.
The 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder, DOHC, CVTC engine, which pumps out 145 hp at 5,600 rpm and 210 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm, is helped by an ECO Motor with a Secondary battery. It is mated to an Xtronic CVT transmission with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC).
ETCM also mentioned that it is now open for bookings with a pre-launch sales period to attract early birds for a special promotion that includes a Motorist Personal Accident Insurance package, relatively low hire-purchase interest rates and a free service campaign. Prices for it will only be revealed at the launch.
