Naza Kia Malaysia gave the public a preview of the All-New Second Generation 2013 Picanto at its test drive roadshow held at Sunway Pyramid, in conjunction with the Kia Go-Xtra Campaign 2013 prize presentation ceremony at the Blue Concourse of the shopping centre on Friday evening. The Picanto is said to be launched for our local market sometime early next month.

This second generation model was first unveiled to the world at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and was penned German based design team under the direction of Kia Europe Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer. The front fascia is evident of his corporate signature “tiger nose” design scheme with the overall dimensions of the entire car slightly longer with extended wheelbase when compared to its predecessor.

Kia did mention that it has a 6-airbag system and 4 disc brakes but to word of engine specifications. A 1.2 litre engine is rumoured to be offered together with a 4-speed automatic on the higher specced models and a 5-speed manual variant as its standard base model. Kia said that the price for it is still under government approval and should be around the RM63,000 range for the top variant.

The Picanto was displayed openly for the public over the weekend after Kia had awarded the grand prize winners for its Customer Loyalty Program, the Kia Go-Xtra Campaign 2013.

“This is part of Naza Kia Malaysia’s initiative to appreciate our customers’ loyalty and reward them with the trip of a lifetime to Seoul, Korea. These winners will also get a chance to tour Kia’s manufacturing plant and R&D centre where they will get a first-hand look at Kia’s advanced design and production capabilities,” said Naza Kia Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Datuk Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar.

The contest was opened to customers who serviced their Kia vehicles between 2nd May to 30th June, given a “Sa-Rang-Hae, Yo, Kia” (I love Kia) windscreen sticker, get spotted to be shortlisted and finally send in their most creative photo of their best Kia “Family-like Care” moment.

The three grand prizes, Izharudin bin Amanudin, Sean Ooi Yeong Shern and Mohd Shukor Shuaib, won an all-expenses paid, five days four nights trip to Seoul for two, RM1,000 pocket money and RM1,000 worth of Kia service vouchers.
