2014 Ducati 899 Panigale 11

Ducati said that they will unveil their 2014 model lineup at the approaching Frankfurt Motor Show this 12th September but it seems that they couldn’t wait to show one of their ponies – the latest ‘Supermid’ dubbed as the new 899 Panigale. Ducati confirms that the bike is intended to provide a “mix of authentic Italian performance with everyday usability” thus offering an alternative to the 1199 Panigale.

The supermid shares many of its features and offerings with the 1199 Panigale. First of all, it looks unmistakably Panigale with its twin LED headlamps that are integrated with frontal intake ducts as well as moulded twin rear lights with LED brake light. Unlike its bigger brother, the 899 Panigale is fitted with a double-sided swingarm.

Wheels come in the form of lightweight 10-spoke wheels wrapped by the sticky 20/70 ZR17 Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa rubbers at the front and 180/60 ZR17 at the rear. Braking power is proved by Brembo brakes with 3-level ABS while handling and agility is well taken care of by 43mm Showa Big Piston Forks (BPF) usd forks and Sachs rear suspension unit.

The 899 Panigale is no pushover. The Superquadro engine pushes out 148 hp at 10,750 rpm and 99 Nm maxing at 9,000 rpm. Three pre-set modes are available and each mode changes engine characteristics, including ride-by-wire throttle response, ABS, DTC, and EBC.
