Luxury carmaker Infiniti is marking its first appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 (KLIMS13) with a showcase of its new brand direction showing off a new nomenclature, using the Q badge for sedans and coupe, and QX for crossovers and SUVs. Among other displays, the Q50 premium sports sedan, the first to use the new ‘Q’ badge, was unveiled.

The Q50 first made its debut at the recent 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) with Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel playing an active role in the development of the premium sports sedan as Infiniti’s new Director of Performance. The new car is said to replace the Infiniti G sedan and is also the first instance of a hybrid model in Infiniti’s entry-level model.

Boasting the World’s first Direct Adaptive Steering and Active Lane Control, the Q50 uses an electric power steering system that allows each wheel to be controlled independently and offers four different driver-selectable modes. It is powered by a 3.7 litre V6 engine (taken from the G37 model) that produces 328 hp and 365 Nm of torque mated to an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) transnission.

The Q70 flagship luxury sedan is also on display showing a combination of modern luxury with timeless Japanese artistry that embraces style, performance, luxury, craftsmanship and technology. The Q70 uses a 2.5 litre V6 engine that outputs 218 hp and 252 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Other features include a Drive Mode selector, Sport-tuned suspension and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

The QX70 luxury crossover (also on display at the show), is said to fuse a sport utility lower body with a sleek, elegant upper frame which results in a jaw-dropping grace, whether in motion or standing still. It uses a 3.7 litre V6 engine that gives out 320 hp and 360 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Other features include an Intelligent Brake Assist with Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention and, an 11-speaker Bose Premium Audio System with 8-inch WVGA colour touch screen display.

Another rare attraction at the Infiniti’s booth is its Red Bull Racing Q100 (RB9) Formula One Race Car.
