Suzuki Malaysia Automobile today introduced the third generation Suzuki Jimny. The JB43 variant is available only in JLX trim and features subtle yet noticeable changes, including the engine hood, front bumper and grilles.
The small SUV, which has been in its third generation form for over 15 years now, is powered by a 1.3-litre M13A DOHC engine. Mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, the drivetrain churns out 84 hp at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of maximum torque at 4,100 rpm.
Shifting smoothly between 2WD and 4WD is made easy with the inclusion Drive Action 4X4 system, which can be activated via buttons on the dash at speeds up to 100 km/h. A 4WD-L mode is also available for rougher terrains and extremely steep slopes.
Safety-wise, the Jimny is fitted with dual front airbags, four-sensor ABS as well as three-point seatbelts with pretensioners. The chassis, which has eight body mounts and extensive noise reduction properties, is computer-designed to absorb the force of a frontal collision and spread it away from occupants while side door beams are installed to reduce side impact.
The new Suzuki Jimny is available in four colours – Silky Silver Metallic, Superior White, Prime Ever Green and Metallic Quasar Gray. Prices (OTR without insurance) stand at RM84,888 for the manual transmission and RM89,888 for the automatic variant.
