The new Peugeot 2008 first appeared at the Geneva Motor Show, flaunting its crossover body type based on the supermini 208. Luckily for us Malaysians, the compact SUV is now on display at the Peugeot booth at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 at PWTC.
Apart from the platform, the 2008 is blessed with the same powertrain found on the 208 – a 120 hp/160 Nm 1.6-litre VTi engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment fitted in the SUV include the Smart Park Assist with auto park and exit, panoramic glass roof with electric shutter and mood lighting, as well as an Arkamys 3D audio system with six speakers.
At 4,160 mm long, 1,740 mm wide and 1,550 mm tall, the 2008 offers plenty of space in the cabin, which can be extended by using the Smart One touch foldable rear seat. In terms of safety, the 2008 comes with six airbags and an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) that works in tandem with other features such as the Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR), Stability Control (CDS), Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD).
The new Peugeot 2008 is now open for booking, although official pricing has yet to be announced while its official launch is expected to take place in January next year.
