The Otomotif College (TOC), the pioneer in professional automotive education in Malaysia, is offering scholarships and awards worth more than RM140,000 as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations this year.
The TOC Scholarship Foundation was established this year to commemorate a decade of success in developing a new generation of automotive professionals who are mobile and employable.
For the 2014 academic year, TOC will be giving out three major scholarships; namely the Foundation Scholarship, Performance Scholarship and Excellence Scholarship.
The Foundation Scholarship aims to help students who are passionate in automotive studies but could not afford a diploma programme. It is open to students whose family income is less than RM3,000 a month.
The Performance Scholarship is to reward current TOC students who achieve success in automotive or motorsport competitions so that others too would be inspired to reach for greater heights.
The Excellence Scholarship is awarded to those who managed to score at least seven As in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations and are keen to pursue their studies at TOC.
The TOC Scholarship Foundation also offer cash awards every term through its CEO & Training Director’s Honours and Achievers Awards to reward students who demonstrate strong academic and extra-curricular performance as well as discipline in attending classes.
According to TOC chief executive officer Adelaine Foo, the TOC Scholarship Foundation was established based on the belief that everyone should be afforded equal education opportunities.
“At a time when many Malaysians are grappling with the rising cost of living, we hope that the scholarships and awards will be able to help those who have a passion for cars to pursue their dreams. Our proven and highly-regarded diploma programmes open doors into a vibrant automotive industry where tremendous career opportunities await,” she said.
Established in 2004, TOC’s industry-relevant and technologically up-to-date curriculum, coupled with an extensive practical training and internship programme, is designed to produce well-rounded graduates equipped with not just internationally-recognised diplomas, but real world experience.
For the past decade, TOC has established itself as the best-run automotive college in Malaysia. It is rated five-star by MyQuest 2012/13 and the Ministry of Human Resources. It is also recognised as a five-star Malaysian Skills Certificate training provider by the Department of Skills Development (JPK).
TOC has been accorded premier status accreditation by Accreditation Services for International Colleges (ASIC), a recognition given to only five per cent of the world’s automotive education institutions. It is also accredited with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Ministry of Human Resources (MoHR), Department of Skills Development (JPK), Training and Employment Recognition Council, Queensland Government, Australia, and United Kingdom’s Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and City and Guilds International.
