SsangYong XLV Concept - 1

Korean carmaker SsangYong Motor has revealed a stunning looking, B-segment SUV at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show 2014. Called the XLV which stands for eXciting smart Lifestyle Vehicle, the concept promises a real multi-role vehicle that blends robustness, durability and dynamic style.

According to SsangYong, the XLV is the latest iteration in a series of multi-interface concepts, first seen with the XIV-1 at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. It does look similar to the 6-seater LIV-1 Concept shown at the Seoul Motor Show early last year.

The ‘Rhythmical Motion’ theme is part of the ‘Nature born – 3 Motion’ design philosophy in which signatures SsangYong’s association with power and dynamism of nature.

The suicide doors opens up to a 2+2+2+1 seating layout has the seventh seat the ability to move freely between the second and third row of seats for optimum flexibility. There’s also a full length double layer glass roof with its transparency that can be adjusted electronically.

SsangYong XLV Concept - 14

Powering the SsangYong XLV Concept is a 48V hybrid system that combines a 1.6-litre diesel engine and a 10 kW electric motor powered by a high performance 500Wh lithium ion battery. The equivalent horsepower and torque figures were not disclosed but SsangYong did say that a CO2 level of about 10 percent lower than its competitors has been achieved.
