A couple of days ago, Peugeot revealed a facelifted 508 in London. The revised D-segment grand tourer wears a new front fascia that looks to bear a new grille said to be emblematic of its future models.

As an essential element, the new grille is now more vertical but narrower to present a wider appearance. It is flanked by a redesigned headlights using highly technological 100 percent LED. The daytime running lights and front foglamps also uses the same technology. For the sedan, the rear bumper gets a slight redesign as well.

On the inside, the dashboard gets a new 7-inch touch screen giving the centre console a cleaner look with less buttons and a new closed storage box. New features include a Blind Sport Sensors, reversing camera with colour image and the Peugeot Connect Apps.

Power-wise, the new Peugeot 508 gets a new Euro 6 compliant petrol engine. The new 1.6 litre THP 165 replaces the older Euro 5 THP 156, and is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a new EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission. CO2 emissions for the new engine is said to be at 129 g per km, improving on the 144 g per km in the previous engine.

There’s also two diesel engine options. A 2.0 litre BlueHDi 150 is mated to a 6-speed manual while another 2.0 litre BlueHDi 180 gets the EAT6 automatic. CO2 emissions are at 105 g per km and 111 g per km, respectively.

A hybrid system is also announced using the 163 hp 2.0 litre HDi Diesel engine and the 37 hp electric motor coupled to the rear wheels operate either alternately or together. CO2 emissions is said to be only 85 g per km with a combined fuel consumption of 3.3 litres per100 km.

The new facelifted Peugeot 508 will make its global debut in August at two venues – the Moscow and Chengdu Motor Shows, then again at the Paris Motor Show with sales in Europe said to start in September.
