During the introduction of the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, BMW Group Malaysia also unveiled two new BMW Motorrad models, the new BMW F 800 R and BMW 800 GS. Both models are now assembled at the company’s plant in Thailand and will be available in the local market as Thai-CBU models with revised price tags for better affordability without comprising quality.

Best described as light, agile and fast, the new BMW F 800 R was stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer’s machine of choice. The naked bike gets a healthy 87 hp and 86 Nm from its liquid cooled, four-stroke twin parallel engine with 798 cc displacement. Despite the impressive figures, the F 800 R returns a combined fuel consumption rate of 3.6 litres per 100 km.

The naked comes with a host of goodies and the list starts from the prominent Akrapovic slip-on exhaust along with twin 320 mm discs with four piston calipers at the front and a single 265 mm disc with a single piston caliper at the rear, as well as ABS as standard. The F 800 R comes in Racing Blue Metallic, Light White, and Sakhir Orange.

Meanwhile, the new F 800 GS joins the long lineup of enduro machines in the celebrated GS family. Like other Gelände Sport models, the F 800 GS offers all-round capabilities for everyday use and weekend joyrides with friendly fuel consumption figures. Similar to the F 800 R, the GS is powered by a liquid cooled, twin parallel 798 cc engine with two valves per cylinder and dry sump lubrication that channels 85 hp and 83 Nm of torque, with 3.8 litres per 100 km combined fuel consumption.

The chassis features a pair of 230 mm inverted forks at the front and a 215 mm WAD travel-related damper at the rear. Apart from wide enduro handlebars, the GS offers great riding dynamics with standard electronic assists such as the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and BMW Motorrad Assist system. ABS comes as standard along with 300 mm twin discs at the front end and a single 265 mm disc at the other.

The retail prices on the road, without insurance for the new BMW F 800 R is RM63,800 while the F 800 GS can be yours starting from RM73,900 for the standard model and RM76,900 for the low seat variant.

Both model can be had with a special service program which includes free lubricant service of up to 2 years or 40,000km, whichever comes first. All BMW Motorrad bikes also offer a two year international warranty with unlimited mileage.
