BMW M3 M4 Launch - 3

BMW Group Malaysia yesterday released a press statement to announce the introduction of the all-new fifth generation 2014 BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe into the Malaysian market. Yes, after its worldwide reveal back in December last year, these iconic models by the BMW M GmbH are finally here.

“The all-new BMW M3 Sedan and the all-new BMW M4 Coupé represents BMW’s philosophy of combining the best of our motorsporting capabilities and heritage with uncompromised everyday usability to create sports cars that are not only emotional in terms of looks and performance but also very practical for everyday use. Both cars are the embodiment of taking motorsport technology from the track to the road; and with the thousands of test laps on Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit – the most demanding race track in the world – the new models are prepared for just that.” said BMW Group Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Dr. Gerhard Pils, in the statement.

As expected of the prestigious ‘M’ badge, both the M3 and M4 gets an aggressive overall outlook worthy of its iconic position. Apart from the signature M double-bar kidney grille, the fascia features powerfully designed front apron with conspicuosly large air inlets.  The bulging power dome bonnet is made of lightweight aluminium and the M gills at the sides designed to perform both a stylistic and a functional role with Air Breathers that teams up with Air Curtains at the front apron to optimise airflow and improve aerodynamics. At the back, a diagonally cut twin exhaust framed by sculptural rear apron with integrated diffuser. Also not to forget, the roof is made of lightweight carbon fibre-reinforced plastic roof featured as standard, shaving off 5 kg from the M3 and more than 6 kg from the M4, as well as lowering its centre of gravity.

Under the hood, instead of a naturally-aspirated V8 engine found in the previous model, a newly developed 3-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology powers both the M3 and M4. The new system delivers 431 hp at 7,600 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between a low 1,800 to 5,390 rpm. It’s mated to a new lightweight 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission gearbox that gets it to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h. Despite the scrumptious performance figures, it consumes just 8.3 l / 100 km and emits 194 g / km of CO2.

For Malaysia, colours available are Alpine White and Sakhir Orange with Leather Merino Black interior, while Yas Marina Blue with Leather Merino Silverstone interior as the M3 exclusive and Mineral Grey or Austin Yellow with Leather Merino Sakhir Orange interior as the M4 exclusive.

The BMW M3 Sedan is priced at RM738,800 and the M4 Coupe at RM748,800. These are on-the-road prices, without insurance, with BMW Service + Repair Inclusive (BS+RI).

Together with the introduction of the two M models, BMW Group Malaysia are now offering original BMW M Performance accessories for the current line up. The accessories list include BMW M Aerodynamics Kits, BMW M Performance Interior Trim and Selector Lever in Carbon Fibre and a selection BMW M Performance Alloy Wheel options, Sports Brakes and Suspension.

“Our customers with motorsports aspirations can now personalise their cars further with a selection of BMW M Performance accessories which will give their cars a sportier look and feel. We are currently running a special campaign for BMW M Performance parts and accessories for the new BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 series,” Dr. Pils added.
