Harley-Davidson Project LiveWire 02

Harley-Davidson motorcycles have always been brute and menacing, and its thundering V-twin engines are known to be capable of making babies cry. But all that is set to become a thing of the past as the Milwaukee-based company readies its first-ever electric motorcycle with the Project LiveWire.

While it is not ready for sale yet, H-D is hoping to garner as much feedback as they can by letting select customers around the United States to have a go at its new project bike. The company will bring the bike on a cross-country tour, which will cover more than 30 dealerships through the Route 66. The project is set to expand into Canada and Europe next year.

Figures and technical details are scarce at the moment but H-D Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Mark-Hans Richer tries to keep everyone enticed by saying, “Think fighter jet on an aircraft carrier. Project LiveWire’s unique sound was designed to differentiate it from internal combustion and other electric motorcycles on the market.”

Not sure how customers would react to that, but H-D is also promising “a visceral riding experience with tire-shredding acceleration”. If that sounds good enough, head on to projectlivewire.com to learn more about the new electric cruiser.
