Audi Sport TT Cup

Following the success of the Audi R8 LMS Cup in China, Audi is announcing another one-make cup called the Audi Sport TT Cup which will be held as part of the DTM series in Germany next year. More interestingly, the inaugural supporting event will see the first appearance of the new Audi TT in its racing form.

Weighing only 1,125 kg, the TT is based closely on the road-going version, packing the same 2.0-litre TFSI engine and six-speed dual clutch transmission. The setup is good for 310 hp but a push-to-pass function stretches the output by at least 30 extra hp.

Kicking off in Germany next year, the Audi Sport TT Cup will be held at each six of the DTM championship in the region. The event will field 24 cars, with 18 permanent places for aspiring drivers and six reserved for changing guest drivers. All drivers will be coached by former DTM driver Markus Winkelhock and the winner will have the chance to be involved in the company’s GT3 program.
