2015 Opel Corsa OPC 01

The new Opel Corsa OPC will be the latest entrant to the exciting supermini segment. The hot hatch has been tested on the Nürburgring and will be making its world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in early March.

Based on the plain vanilla Corsa hatchback, the Corsa OPC boasts a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that makes 207 hp and 245 Nm of torque between 1,900 and 5,800 rpm. If 245 sounds too little, the engine has an overboost function that will churn out an additional 35 Nm.

With a six-speed manual unit transferring the output to the front axle, the Corsa OPC is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and hit a maximum speed of 230 km/h. Don’t let the figures fool you as the hatch is pretty economical at 7.5 litres per 100 km.

To match the power, Opel has lowered the chassis by 10 mm and fitted the hatch with a new Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology. It also gets the latest electronic control system, ESP and TC as well as 308 mm brake discs and Michelin tyres. Those who crave for more performance can opt for the Performance Package that contains Drexler differential lock, 18-inch wheels, bigger discs from Brembo.

As for design, the Corsa OPC sets itself apart from the rest of the lineup with bigger air intakes, hood scoop, side sills, rear spoiler (available in two sizes) and Remus exhaust. Inside, you’ll find Recaro sports seats, flat-bottom steering wheel and OPC gear knob.
