Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept 02

As the motorsport and performance arm for Nissan, Nismo just can’t stop coming up with drool-worthy products we have seen over the years. Now, at the Chicago Auto Show, Nismo looks to further expand its current lineup with the introduction of the new Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept.

Don’t let the “concept” designation fool you – the topless version of the 370Z Nismo looks ready and happy to be abused on track. Like the hardtop variation that came before it, the roadster boasts GT-R inspired bodywork. The front end gets a new grille, LED daytime running lights, black headlight bezels, along with Nismo emblem and racy red stripes.

Around the back, the 370Z gets a diffuser and a bespoke carbon-fibre rear spoiler. The fixed headrests are wrapped in leather with red accents. 19-inch forged aluminium-alloy wheels shod with sticky Y-rated Bridgestone Potenza P001 tyres finish the whole Nismo look.

The cabin, which ought to be exposed to the sun most of the time, gets black Recaro bucket seats, Nismo emblem, red stitching, Alcantara/leather steering wheel as well as red tachometer.

Like the coupe, the roadster is powered by an uprated 3.7-litre naturally-aspirated V6 engine packing 350 hp and 374 Nm of torque. The unit is backed by an H-configured exhaust system along with retuned Engine Control Module (ECM). Transmission comes in the form of a seven-speed automatic.

Chassis tuning consists of a strut tower brace under the hood, independent suspension with special springs and stabilizer bars as well as a Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD).

Although branded as a “design study”, Nissan VP for Product Planning Pierre Loing said the 370Z Nismo Roadster would be a tremendous addition to the lineup, which currently consists of the GT-R Nismo, 370Z Nismo, Juke Nismo and Juke Nismo RS.
