The Malaysian Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) today readjusted the fares of taxis and express buses in the Klang Valley.

The adjustment sees taxis fares increased to 25 sen per 200 m and 25 sen per 36 seconds, while for express buses, an increase from 9.3 sen per km to 11.4 sen per km. Flag-down rates remains at RM3 for budget taxis nationwide, except for Penang and Teks1m taxis, which is set at RM4.

Said to be effective on 15th May, taxi companies has a grace period of two month to recalibrate it’s meters and for the public to prepare for the price hike, which supposedly coincide with the new Goods and Services Tax (GST).
