Lincoln Continental Concept - Main

The sophisticated Lincoln Continental is set to make a comeback in 2016, 14 years since its last appearance. It was announced at the New York Auto Show, where the division of Ford unveiled the concept that would form the basis for the final product.

Ditching the iconic boxy profile and split-wing front grille, the concept opens a new chapter with a sleeker silhouette and a new centred grille. The raised badge is surrounded with an insert made from polished aluminium Lincoln Star emblem.

At the sides, the concept is equipped with E-latch door handles well hidden in the beltline. Painted in the brand’s signature Rhapsody Blue metallic shade, the concept also wears wraparound tail lights with ‘light-through-chrome’ technology and matrix LED headlights. Classy 21-inch polished aluminium wheels finish the Continental’s newfound image.

As expected, the cabin is dominated by a suite of high-class material including Venetian leather, Alcantara as well as Rose Gold trim. It is fitted with 30-way power seats that can be fully reclined. Apart from the audio system, rear passengers get to control the new SPD SmartGlass sunroof, which blocks UV ray and heat from direct sunlight.

In technical point of view, the Continental will be powered by Ford’s 3.0-litre EcoBoost engine. While output is unspecified, the company reveals the sedan will be enhanced with adaptive steering as well as a number of driver assist technologies.
